I want to install vsftpd on CentOS 6.9 and access the files through FTP.

I have created in /etc/vsftpd the user_config folder in which I created the user file that contains the following lines:

local_root=/home/shared/user1
cmds_denied=DELE,RMD,MKD,RNTO

I created the password for the user1 with the command:

htpasswd –b –d /etc/vsftpd/passwd user1 “passwd”

and then I restarted the vsftpd service with the command:

/etc/init.d/vsftpd restart

with:

ftp
ftp> open 127.0.0.1

and putting the credentials, I obtain:

530 Login incorrect

The vsftpd.conf is like this:

anonymous_enable=NO
local_enable=YES
write_enable=YES
local_umask=022
dirmessage_enable=NO
ftpd_banner=HELLO
listen=YES
virtual_use_local_privs=YES
pam_service_name=ftp
local_enable=YES
guest_enable=YES
guest_username=user
user_sub_token=$USER
hide_ids=NO
log_ftp_protocol=YES
xferlog_enable=YES
xferlog_std_format=NO
vsftpd_log_file=/var/log/vsftpd.log
dual_log_enable=NO
chroot_local_user=YES
user_config_dir=/etc/vsftpd/user_config
