I have used the below link to edit the registries such that Excel will always open in a new instance when opening the Excel file within Windows Explorer.

However, this behavior is not the same when trying to open an Excel attachment attached in an email in Outlook. I am using Outlook 2010 and Excel on a Windows 7 64-bit platform.

Is there another tweak I can also use so that Outlook will always open the Excel file in a new instance?

  • AFAIK, this is not possible for Excel 2010. May be you should consider to upgrade to Excel 2013/2016. – Steve Fan Mar 22 '18 at 2:29
