I'm restoring a lot of recovered media files from broken/damaged/scratched media. Some video files have been copied with errors and Windows 7 takes a really long time before abandoning the attempt to create a thumbnail for such files and skipping to the next file in folder.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to set the timeout to like 1 second per file for the first look into the folder (normally if the video is undamaged, it takes less than a second for a thumbnail to appear, it's really fast) and then increase to 10 for more damaged files and then to 60 seconds for the worst files?

Is there a registry value or some setting I could change to do this? I can write a .reg or .bat file for convenience, but I just don't know what setting to change.
