I'm basically looking to save space and time by ignoring folders like .vs or .git automatically, rather than having to add them manually as excluded folders.

Is there the possibility of adding a wildcard exclusion to Windows 10's file back up?

  • I am not sure if windows backup use archive flag of files because I did not find any documentation about that. But you may try if it works. Before backup, you can run attrib command with -A /S options for files you do not want to be backed up. This will clear archive attribute of all those files. After backup, check if these files are backed up. If not, you can schedule this command before backup is executed. – Sandeep Jul 6 '18 at 12:47
