I have a Lenovo Thinkpad x220t tablet laptop, and to extend battery life I want to turn it's LCD on and off manually with a keyboard shortcut when I desire. Surfing on the internet I came across many softwares/executables which can turn off LCD on pressing a certain keyboard shortcut but as far as any key is pressed or mouse is moved the LCD turns on again. I am specifically looking for a case in which a certain keyboard shortcut turns the screen off and only the same keyboard shortcut turns the screen on again, just like the power button does on a mobile phone. I came to know that some laptop manufacture provide a Fn key shortcut to toggle between screen on and off mode. But I am looking for a robust solution which can work on any laptop as mine does not support that built in feature.

SIDE NOTE: I am running Windows 7 64-bit on my laptop.
