I bought a SSD for my wife's 2010 Macbook Pro. The Macbook Pro has a 250 GB HDD and I want to copy it over to a 500 GB SSD. The easy way to do this is to buy a USB adapter for the SSD and clone it in the Mac disk utility. However, I don't have a USB adapter and would like to clone it using my desktop PC which has multiple SATA ports. I have copied windows drives before using Linux and DD utility. Does anyone know how I would clone (and resize) the Mac HDD to SSD using a PC and Linux live CD?

You can clone it exactly the same way. – Ramhound Jul 25 '18 at 0:50
