I am having a problem with my display settings for some time now. Every time I reboot the system my monitor resolution is forgotten and back to 1024x768. I need the my monitor resolution to work with 1440x900 resolution.

I tried cvt and xrandr commands at terminal but it is working until I shut down my PC. Next time I switch it on, the configuration is forgotten.

Then I created an xrandr.sh file, gave it +x permission and put it in /usr/bin/ directory. It is supposed to run at startup but I actually have to run it manually every time I switch on my PC!

Content of xrandr.sh file:

xrandr --newmode "1440x900_75.00"  136.75  1440 1536 1688 1936  900 903 909 942 -hsync +vsync
xrandr --addmode VGA1 1440x900_75.00
xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1440x900_75.00

I am using an AOC 17" monitor. The problem started some 15 days ago. After trying different troubleshooting methods I have come here for help!

It is very frustrating to see a stretched desktop and fixing it every time before starting my day's work! :)

Somebody please suggest me the workaround of this problem.

UPDATE:
I have added /usr/bin/xrandr.sh to startup application list which is forcing the monitor to set itself at 1440x900 resolution but at the same time I am getting the following inside a dialog box:

I have a feeling that what I have done is not the right or recommended way to do it. Please suggest me the right way.
