I cannot get jenkins working on fedora 27 after the rather standard install process.

dnf install jenkins
systemctl start jenkins

I have this on 2 fedora installations. I updated all packages. I do not know how to fix this. There is no hints in messages log. Can anyone help with this ?

Looks like this is a bug with the dependencies for the Jenkins package for Fedora 27.

One suggested workaround in the bug report is to use one of the rpm packages for RHEL from pkg.jenkins.io instead of an official Fedora package.

the link that you show i had already commented on where that workaround will not work as presented. I actually opened up a bug report in jenkins project here I got it working with dnf upgrade --best --allowerasing jenkins to overcome a dependency problem in jenkins-webtool. Not sure if that is a safe way to do a workaround. – Peter Moore Oct 3 '18 at 3:54

Although as noted in the comments I got a workaround working, I am not sure it is a safe workaround.

it is dnf upgrade --best --allowerasing jenkins

there is a broken dependency on package jenkins-webtool which will not allow a normal upgrade to a version 2.x. This really should be fixed in the fedora packages.
