I recently had techs install an SSD in my laptop. Now in Thunderbird, I can't open links to web pages. I've tried making changes in the Thunderbird Config Editor, but this didn't help. When I click a link in an email, the color briefly changes to red, then nothing happens. When I right click the link and click "Open in Browser," the little blue "processing" circle shows for an instant, then nothing happens. Thank you for any help you can give.

  • Maybe reinstalling Thunderbird ? – harrymc Oct 5 '18 at 20:52
  • Thank you, Harry. I am hesitant to reinstall Thunderbird because the techs almost lost all my contacts and folders and I'm unsure how to do a re-install myself. Let's see what others have to say. Re-install might be the only way. – Steve Ross Oct 5 '18 at 20:54
  • You may save the Thunderbird folder for backup, just in case. Besides that, contacts can be exported and imported, likewise folders. – harrymc Oct 5 '18 at 20:55
  • Harry, thank you, I discovered that the email links can be opened if I use Google Chrome as my browser. That means the problem lies somewhere in Firefox. I can't find anything in the Firefox Help files, so might just make Chrome my default browser instead, Do you (or anyone) have any ideas how to fix this in Firefox? – Steve Ross Oct 7 '18 at 20:46
  • Maybe some add-on? – harrymc Oct 7 '18 at 21:09
