Whenever I try to restart/start my nrpe service on client machine, the following error shows up:

Failed at step EXEC spawning /usr/lib/systemd/system/nrpe.service: Exec format error

Can anyone please help me in this regard??

See if you have execute permission to whatever the service is executing and run chmod +x against it. – Pimp Juice IT Oct 15 '18 at 11:46
  • @PimpJuiceIT: I made use of the same command but still the issue persists. :/ – genius_monkey Oct 15 '18 at 11:59
  • What's inside the nrpe.service file? You might consider opening it up with cat or whatever, then posting with an edit its contents. You might also consider doing the same thing with the process of whatever is being executed per the ExecStart= value. I just found this post too. . . askubuntu.com/questions/648555/… which may offer some clue. – Pimp Juice IT Oct 15 '18 at 12:13
  • @PimpJuiceIT: nrpe.service is a binary file which contains data in non-readable format. Also,I did go through the link that you have mentioned in your comment and it seems that I am using the correct package. – genius_monkey Oct 15 '18 at 12:49
  • What's the value in the service file of the ExecStart= field? – Pimp Juice IT Oct 15 '18 at 15:30
