My Epson NX110 prints big black stripe on left side of page from top to bottom, only when making copy or scan. Printing from computer works fine.

  • Sounds like the scanner is bad. Is it under warranty? – Keltari Oct 20 '18 at 19:58

Sounds like you are not placing the paper properly in the scanner area. – Mokubai Oct 20 '18 at 20:00
  • Please respond to Mokubai’s comment. I’ll assume, for sake of example, that you are dealing with 8½×11 paper and that the black stripe is 1 inch wide.  When you copy an 8½×11 original, do you get a copy of 7½ inches of the original, with 1 inch cut off? Is it on the opposite side from the stripe or the same side (i.e., does the stripe appear to be overlaying the missing material)?  Or do you get the entire 8½” width of the original, compressed into 7½ inches of the copy?  And are you scanning in portrait orientation or landscape orientation? … (Cont’d) – Scott Oct 20 '18 at 21:03

  • Leave the lid up. Press the scan button. Does the light seem even all the way across? – Tetsujin Oct 21 '18 at 6:34
