My TV has a resolution of 1920 x 1080. I want to convert a movie that is 1920 x 800 px. If I leave it as is, then the TV stretches it out to 1920 x 1080, so the picture is stretched vertically.

It would be great if my TV was smart enough to recognise the incoming resolution, and letterbox it itself to keep the right ratio, but it seems that it is not - it always stretches it, no matter how much I muck about with the Picture options in the menu.

So, what I wanted to try was to add letterboxing myself (140px at top and bottom, I guess), using Handbrake, when I convert the movie to mp4 format.

Is this possible? I can't see anything about it in the docs, although I must admit I got a bit lost in the "Anamorphic video" section.

Alternatively, maybe there's some setting which will help my TV realise that it needs to letterbox it itself?
