I am using Windows 10 Home Edition. In windows, we can export power plans/profiles via

powercfg /export <filename> <GUID> command

but the exported file (.pow) is not readable. One can only import it via powercfg.

Is there any way to export power plan settings in xml (or any other readable) format where i can compare the plans side-by-side? Web search only gives powercfg commands which is not what i want.

  • One could, in principle, export the plans in the Registry, at Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\ and diff the files, though the values are somewhat cryptic. – DrMoishe Pippik Dec 5 at 2:51
