relatively new to this and hoping for some advice. I have a 2017 MBP and a windows desktop.

The windows desktop is connected to a single monitor with a wired mouse and keyboard.

I'm looking to buy a new desktop anyway, but wondering if it's possible to have a windows desktop for my parents, but have an easy way of sitting my MBP down and connecting peripherals (mouse, keyboard, screen) all to the MBP with minimal fuss.

Since the MBP has a thunderbolt 3 connection, is this the way to go? Could I do this with a widescreen setup? Perhaps some kind of port replicator which connects to my desktop which I can switch over with a single cable?

A one cable switch would be fine, for the record.
