Today, Windows Explorer started randomly crashing, only when browsing files/folders. It got worse and now it's to the point where Windows Explorer continually crashes every few seconds from the moment that I load into Windows (the bar on the bottom of my screen just flashes and is unresponsive). I can't open any programs and if I launch Task Manager it closes immediately just as the bar flashes.

I have booted into Safe Mode but the same thing occurs.

I have successfully run sfc /scannow from the Safe Mode Command Line but the problem persists.

The problem seemed to have been a bad AppData file (one of the "thumbcache" files).

I booted into the Safe Mode Command Line, navigated to C:\Users\MyUser\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows, and renamed the Explorer directory. Everything now works fine when I boot into Windows normally.
