The DejaVu file format was conceived to support better compression of scanned images of printed material both by intelligently splitting scans up (background, foreground, bi-level mask) and by using more effective compression schemes than those commonly-used at the time (late 1990s). Now, DJVu has not been updated since 2006, while over the years, the PDF format (also used to distribute scans) has been getting more features.

So, my question is: Are there still features/capabilities of DJVu that aren't supported in PDF files? And if there aren't - does that mean it is now possible to perform a lossless conversion of DJVu to PDF without a significant increase in size?
