I want to edit a word document which already has text inside.

I want then to select a style e.g. a different color and insert new text in the document. I want this selection to be persistent, so if I move the cursor to a new location in the document it should keep its style.

The "pens" in the drawing menu have that concept, they keep their style no matter where I use them. However, I would like to insert normal text just with a different style.

Use case would be e.g. taking minutes on an agenda where I want to highlight my own comments or put down answers on questions which I had noted down.

I know I can track own changes with the review-functionality, but am looking for a solution that directly writes into the document and also keeps that style later without approval.
