I have a desktop that I added a Thunderbolt card to. I also have a work laptop with Thunderbolt. Lastly, I have an old Dell TB16 Docking station. As a matter of convenience, I'd like to run all my peripherals including the screen through the docking station and into the desktop, so that when I have to work from home, I can unplug one cord from the desktop and get the mouse, keyboard and screen (and hopefully power) attached to the work laptop.

So far, I think I have the Thunderbolt card working properly; it recognizes my phone through a USB-C connection. But the docking station does not register. Is such a set up possible? Do I need a different type of connection point?
