I SSH to a server from my laptop since some weeks ago. Today I want to SSH to the same server but from a different laptop and I can't make it work.

Both laptops run on Ubuntu 18 and I've copied the following files from the previous laptop to this new laptop:

/etc/hosts
~/.ssh/config
~/.ssh/known_hosts
/etc/ssh/*

This is the output when I SSH with -v:

OpenSSH_7.6p1 Ubuntu-4ubuntu0.3, OpenSSL 1.0.2n 7 Dec 2017
debug1: Reading configuration data /home/tomas/.ssh/config
debug1: /home/tomas/.ssh/config line 2: Applying options for <server_name>
debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config
debug1: /etc/ssh/ssh_config line 19: Applying options for *
debug1: Connecting to <server_ddns_url> <server_ip> port <port_number>.

  • This looks like a firewalling/server issue - is the log is not showing any attempt to authenticate, rather then all authentication types failing. – davidgo 2 days ago
