I'm trying to find a better solution for network mounts in Debian than fstab. fstab has a tendency to halt boot when ever some network is not available and now that we have entered Cloud era it's almost totally useless for network mounts.

I'm currently juggling with sshfs and bind mounts (don't forget bindfs... although I'm trying to). I also use the "normal" cloud accounts like GoogleDrive, Dropbox and Mega. What do you recommend? Different Bash scripts per. locale seems kind of cumbersome.

  • You don't (necessarily). What you need is to add a "net device" specifier to those fstab lines. Search that here or at DuckDuckGo. – 174140 Aug 27 at 7:12
