I have a whole bunch of files in my homefolder (C:\Users\<my user>) and hence a lot of mess. So I hide the files I don't need. But the problem is, programs that do need access to those files continuously throw permission errors. Yarn for example cannot install/create/update dependencies, Node has difficulty functioning well and IntelliJ cannot start because of this.

Other than simply unhiding these files, are there any ways to combat this?

I've tried taking ownership of these files, or running the program as administrator, but nothing seems to allow these programs to access them.
