Is there a difference between an active directory user and a local user from the security point of view? Of course it makes the management easier, but if you manage them properly. Is there still a difference?

You can login to your device even if you are not connected to the active directory. So the password seems to be stored on the device anyway? Also I can't block a user if the device is stolen because it will never connect to the AD again.

Are there any other security advantages of the AD? This is more an academic question than a practical one.
