I recently changed to a new laptop and did a dual boot of windows and parrot security-4.7(as per my prev laptop). However, I found out that the installer could not detect my WiFi driver and I had to install a non free firmware for my WiFi driver Ax201. I tried loading these non-free firmware during installation but it could not be detected, so I decided to install these firmware only later on. I downloaded a deb file from Windows (as i have no WiFi) and installed it successfully. However, network manager still could not detect my wifi driver and when I ran the dmesg command:

Full result in the link (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ITJByxDcnt_1hxft0GtBx7dkVcl37Ew0LxO8xunZtJ0/edit?usp=drivesdk) which I could not comprehend despite Googling. Any help would be greatly appreciated (i enjoy using parrot alot). Thanks in advance for your time and patience O:-)

  • The AX cards are pretty new so support is still a bit shaky. It might be simpler to grab a cheap USB wifi adaptor or ethernet to get it set up first You probably need firmware-iwlwifi from a non free repo. You might be able to sneak by with grabbing packages from the equivilent debian repo - though I don't know which debian release corresponds to parrot. packages.debian.org/bullseye/firmware-iwlwifi seems to support AX200 however

  • I got my installation package from the non free buster release since parrot is debian 10, and it got me the error message up there. Is there any solution to this? Dec 31, 2019 at 12:46
  • You may need a newer one. Got backports?

  • I am not really sure where I can get one. Do you have any suggestions? Dec 31, 2019 at 13:35
  • packages.debian.org/buster-backports/firmware-iwlwifi Its a repository - basically get the packages for wifi related stuff from there.
