I have windows 10 pro edition. I use one system boot ssd with 5 other hard drives. Most of the other 3.5 hard drives use a sata extension pci card.

When I disconnect all hard drives and leave only system boot ssd my loading times are considerably shorter.

Is there a way to somehow tell windows to only use the boot ssd until windows fully loads or until I need to use the hard drives which by passes sata extension card checks and any other windows checks that need to perform.

  • What an interesting idea :) If nobody coughs up a whiz bang way to do it, you can probably make a startup / shutdown script that will enable / disable the drives using the tool DevCon.exe. Specifically devcon enable|disable hardware_id See this post. It might very well work. – Señor CMasMas May 22 at 18:46
