I have the following Xorg.conf:

Section "ServerFlags"
    Option "AutoAddGPU" "false"
EndSection

I expect that this will result in a "no screens found" error, since I have forbidden GPU auto discovery and have no Device sections. Instead, X finds my GPU and exposes all screens via RandR!

I also tried adding Option "AutoAddDevices" "false", which properly disables discovery of input devices via udev (but does nothing to stop GPU discovery, as expected).

Here is the log, where I have prefixed a couple of interesting lines with ####:

So, my question is: Why does X discover the GPU and screens, and how do I make it stop?

The video driver is AMDGPU.

I also tried recompiling X without udev, which (obviously) breaks input device discovery, but doesn't affect the auto discovery of video devices.

Some context: So, why do I want this anyway? The actual problem I'm trying to solve is that I am trying to configure multi-seat with a single GPU using the ZaphodHeads extension. In theory, I should be able to configure X to capture just one of the screens in every X server (and thus userspace amdgpu driver) instance. However, if I have just a single Device section with one of the ZaphodHeads, the rest of the "devices" get discovered and autoconfigured, and a second X server appears unable to capture them. Adding Device sections for unused screens, and using Option "ignore" "true" on them does inhibit X from using them, but I suspect having the Device section holds some sort of lock, since each X server works on its screen by itself, but additional servers refuse to start after one is already running.

Thus, I want to inhibit X from discovering graphical devices altogether and I want it to use just what I have configured in Device sections.
