In macOS, I can't type characters like ü and ö. How to enter these characters in macOS?
Appreciate if someone can suggest me how to do this.

While the long click works, specifically for the characters
ö in macOS you can click Option+U for umlaut, then type the key you want to have an umlaut. This was done on a macOS U.S. English keyboard.
ä, click Option+U and then click A.
ë, click Option+U and then click E.
ï, click Option+U and then click I.
ö, click Option+U and then click O.
ü, click Option+U and then click U.
ÿ, click Option+U and then click Y.
This works for uppercase as well as lowercase characters and there are other similar items such as:
