I have an IROX Pro-X weather station and am running wview weather software on Ubuntu 12.04.

I have been running it on my old laptop for a few months with no problems but am trying to run it on a Beaglebone board to reduce power etc.

On my laptop I have a udev rule that creates a tty device for it when it starts or is plugged in. That is because the configuration program has to have a consistent view of where the device sits. The rule works perfectly and consistently.

I have built wview for the beaglebone but the udev rule doesn't work so I am pointing the software at the raw device. I need the udev rule to create a consistent device name as occasionally I find that the device name has changed.

What am I missing - or is udev broken on arm boards running Ubuntu? The Vendor and device id are being detected correctly but the device is not created.

My rule in /etc/udev/rules.d/te923.rules is simple.

SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0x1130" ATTRS{idProduct}=="6801", SYMLINK+="ttyWeather", MODE:="0666"

When I run udevadm test I get:

    root@omap:/sys/bus/usb/devices/1-1/usb_device/usbdev1.5# udevadm test -a -p /devices/platform/omap/musb-ti81xx/musb-hdrc.1/usb1/1-1
    run_command: calling: test
    adm_test: version 175
    This program is for debugging only, it does not run any program,
    specified by a RUN key. It may show incorrect results, because
    some values may be different, or not available at a simulation run.

I found that 0x1130 for the idVendor attribute should be just 1130. No need to flag it as hex. Problem solved.
