Hello there I have a GTX 760 Twin Frozr MSI that I just can't seem to get working correctly.

Basically the problem is that when I have the GPU installed there are host of problems that are as following:

1: The desktop is very "laggy" as in the mouse skips and the display freezes and I get tons of "Driver has stopped responding and crashed then recovered errors"

2: When the first doesn't happen and everything seems O.K. I start up a game and the GPU load starts spiking from 1% to 99% constantly until the game crashes and even in-game it's unbearable 10-20fps.

I've tried a host of things from new/old drivers and every time doing a through CLEAN install. Nothing works, and it doesn't seem to be anything, but the GPU as my old GPU works fine.

My PC specs below: Intel(R) Core i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHZ (8CPUs)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 MSI Twin Frozr
2 Corsair Vengenace 4GB Stick ram DDR3
Z87 Gryphon Motherboard ASuS
TX750w Corsair PSU
Seagate HDD
SSD
Blu-Ray Optical Drive

Thanks for taking a look.

  • Was your old GPU Nvidia or AMD? If it was AMD, make absolutely sure you've obliterated its drivers from your system. Other than that, it sounds like you've done all the normal troubleshooting, and I'd say the card is DOA. – Kale Muscarella Sep 17 '13 at 21:58
  • It was Nvidia. and I thought it was DOA as well, but I am having the same exact problem with the GTX 770. – Antonio Sep 17 '13 at 22:00
  • Have you tried using only one of the memory sticks to see if it could possibly be a memory issue? – Kale Muscarella Sep 17 '13 at 22:04
  • 770 or 760? You have both 4 pin plugs plugged fully in correct what driver revision do you have? – Ramhound Sep 17 '13 at 22:05

Try it in another computer, or take it back (or to someone who can test it in another system). – Ƭᴇcʜιᴇ007 Sep 18 '13 at 0:01
