I'm looking for a simple way to set up a VoIP connection between an Android phone and a Windows or Linux computer.

I've been looking at Asterisk and other SIP servers, but a) they seem primarily geared towards communicating with the ordinary phone network, something that I have NO use for, and they seem like overkill when all I need is to send voice data from my phone and receive them on my PC.

Are there any really simple solutions that do this? I could use Skype, but I'd prefer not to have to install Skype and require logging in every time I need to do this.

  • The first hit when searching for direct p2p voip is this. – Rik Nov 11 '13 at 19:16
  • Unfortunately that is slightly too limited. I can't even configure sound inputs on the Windows client. – Aqwis2 Nov 11 '13 at 23:42
  • I haven't found any other clients (that one was not really click-and-run ;). Some SIP-clients should be able to make direct URI-URI contact but i think it is easier to just register with a free SIP-service after which you can dial via user-name. (For Android you could use the internal VOIP/SIP-service as Client, if available in your version) When you don't call landlines these are free services. Some of these are listed here. (BTW can't you set Skype to login automatically?) – Rik Nov 12 '13 at 10:33
