I have a problem of finding suitable GPU-s for day trading setup.

So that minimum of 6 monitors run @ 2560x1440 @ 60hz. The setup must be quiet - if possible, the GPU-s should be fanless. AMD is preferred over Nvidia.

Current setup description here (video cards missing): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2BH59

Do the cards necessarily need to be joined in Crossfire/SLI to be able to show 6 or more independent monitors? Or they can simply "sit" seperately in PCI-E slots and still show 6 or more displays depending on the capabilities of the card.

As far as I know - Displayport 1.2 is the way to go regarding outputs/inputs on monitors and GPUs.

I was looking the following cards:
-) ATI Firepro 2460 Multi-View (passive)
-) PowerColor Radeon HD 7850 SCS3 (passive)
-) Visiontek HD 7750 2GB (Eyefinity 6)
-) AMD Firepro w7000

How many monitors do the following cards support @ 2560x1440 / 60hz?

Thanks in advance.

  • Do you intended to do any 3D graphics or anything that uses Direct3D or OpenGL? Almost anything will do a desktop like that, but as soon as you add 3D they will slow to a crawl. – cybernard Jan 17 '14 at 2:11
  • I would recommend a high end video card with water cooling which can be either silent or almost silent. – cybernard Jan 17 '14 at 2:24
