I need help. i built a PC, and it behaves very strangely. When i press the power button, the lights come on, fan maxes out, HDD spins, bios shows up etc and then it immediately crashes (powers down) before booting into windows. Then it powers on automatically and this time boots correctly. Sometimes there is just one failed boot and sometimes it takes 2 such boots to correctly start the computer.

This unexpected shutdown never happens once it has booted in windows, just between the windows logo and bios menu. Any ideas?

  • Did you get the chipset drivers for the motherboard and install them? – Tyson Aug 23 '14 at 3:14
  • Yes i did, i dont think it is a driver issue. It crashes before windows loads so windows doesnt even detect a crash etc. As soon as i press the power button it crashes and then starts properly – Adil Malik Aug 24 '14 at 18:37
  • I came across this with a faulty video card. Without more troubleshooting information, and what your hardware is, its impossible to answer this. – Journeyman Geek Sep 21 '14 at 0:40
