I had formatted my laptop and installed windows 8.1; it was previously Windows 8. After completion of installation, three drives were missing. I successfully recovered two drives but the third one, which was bitlocker encrypted, was not recovered. It shows as free space and the tool that recovered the other two drives shows that the free space can not be recovered. Please tell me how to recover the bitlocker encrypted partition.

  • You can recover the bitlocker partition from backup. But wait - let me guess - you don't have a backup? Well now you know why you need backup. Let this be a lesson! – SPRBRN Dec 1 '14 at 8:32
  • By formatting do you also mean you repartitioned your drive ? if no then the process is not that hard only if you have the backup key, if yes then I guess it can be managed also if you have the backup key but it'll be a lot trickier. – Ash Dec 1 '14 at 8:40
