We have a Canon printer[1] that has so far worked fine. Recently, one of my colleagues has run into a weird problem - if he prints from Outlook[2], the printer hangs. This is not visible from his machine, but when looking at the actual printer the yellow light is flashing on and off and no other jobs get printed.

I suspect - but do not know - that this is a problem with the printer rather than with Outlook but I am not well-enough versed in either to actually take a stab at fixing this.

  • Is there a message on the printer display indicating what the yellow light is for? Also, take a look at the print properties in Outlook. If it is set to use a paper source, like bypass tray which has no paper available, it will stop all printing until you feed paper manually. – CharlieRB May 26 '15 at 15:09
  • It might be the bypass tray. I'll take a look and get back to you. – medivh May 27 '15 at 6:35
