I have an application on Linux where I have to kill a whole process tree from within an application. The process tree looks like:
app
└── parent
├── child1
├── child2
├── child3
├── child4
└── child5
Now I have problems when killing the process tree by killing parent
: It often happens that several subprocesses are not being killed when I try to kill the parent
process. After the kill signal the child processes appear "detached" as these are in the process tree not below the original application app
anymore. How can that happen?
