Retired IT Tech. My last job was Network Field Tech for The Portland Public School System. I performed maintenance and did network infrastructure upgrades for approx 130 facilities throughout the city. I also did wireless surveys, drawing plans for WiFi installations in the cities grade and middle schools.
Nowadays I enjoy myself working in my shop and remodeling my 1909 Craftsman home. I have converted an old house into a really smart home with all new wiring, plumbing, and lighting. I added 2 full baths rooms and (2) 1/2 baths plus 2 additional bedrooms, a laundry room, and a bonus room. That's in addition to a new kitchen, master bedroom suite, dining room, living room, office/den and a really big deck with a hot tub. I have an equipment room in the attic with a workbench for my electronic projects and a loaded equipment rack with all of the home run lighting, AV equipment, home server, and security gear, cameras, etc. for the house and shop. I have built all of this over a 30 year period, doing all of the work myself, with occasional help from friends. I also built a large shop onto the house with a built-in paint booth and machine shop so I can work on my auto projects and build anything I want. I am currently building a 3D printer and a CNC multi-machine. Future projects include a CNC plasma cutter and a CNC lathe.
Who says retirements boring?
