I'm a Fall 2019 student at Virginia Tech studying for two degrees:
- Computer Science
- Applied Discrete Mathematics
I've held a number of internships and co-ops working primarily on geospatial applications. In my professional experience, I've also worked on simulations, cluster computing, and API gateways. Through these projects, the open source API I've become most familiar with is Apache Spark—working with nearly all but its ML library. I'm working on cybersecurity this 2018 summer.
At Virginia Tech, I've gotten involved in my field by serving as a teaching assistant for both a Python course and a Intro. to Systems course. I've also helped a professor with computer architecture research by setting up parallel benchmarks to run in gem5 on a modern Ubuntu disk image.
In addition, I also manage a website for my robotics team that I've been with since Sept. 2015. With no prior web development experience, I designed it as a static site using Jekyll and its salad of tools.
I am foremost a linguist (by hobby). I found, partway through college, that programming wasn't my strongest skill. I picked up Math as an extra major because I enjoyed it, and I also started learning foreign languages on the side. I enjoy learning new languages, and they have often taught me new skills in English in return. I sometimes translate music videos recreationally.
